La mia Panda 4x4 Sisley – un’icona su ruote (e caratteri tipografici)
Ho sempre amato la Panda 4x4 degli anni ’80. Ruvida, spartana, instancabile. Un’auto che andava dappertutto, anche quando “dappertutto” voleva dire un sentiero sterrato in salita con tre amici e un cane a bordo. Così ho deciso di renderle omaggio… a modo mio.
Quello che vedete qui sopra è un mio disegno digitale: una Panda 4x4 Sisley composta interamente da frasi, parole e slogan che raccontano lo spirito di quest’auto leggendaria. Una Panda fatta di tipografia e memoria, di ironia e libertà.
Non ci sono linee, ombre o sfumature. Solo lettere, tutte rigorosamente italiane (perché siamo stufi delle frasi inglesi, no?).
Mi sono divertito a far parlare la Panda come se fosse viva. Urla “Avventura!”, ricorda che è “Ideale per la famiglia”, promette “Gite all’aria pulita” e rivendica con orgoglio il suo essere “La Jeep italiana”.
E sopra, ovviamente, la canoa. Perché negli anni ’80 si portava sempre qualcosa sul tetto, anche se non serviva...
Questa Panda è più di un’auto: è un manifesto a quattro ruote. Rappresenta un’Italia che partiva con poco, ma con tanta voglia di partire. E a me piace pensare che, anche oggi, ci sia ancora qualcuno che vede un sentiero e pensa: “Ci arrivo con la Panda”.
Questo disegno è il mio modo di fare arte con l’umorismo e la nostalgia, e anche un po’ con l’orgoglio. Perché sì, quella scatoletta a trazione integrale ha fatto la storia. E io gliel’ho scritta addosso.
My Panda 4x4 Sisley – an icon on wheels (and typefaces)
I have always loved the Panda 4x4 of the 80s. Rough, spartan, tireless. A car that went everywhere, even when “everywhere” meant an uphill dirt path with three friends and a dog on board. So I decided to pay homage to it… in my own way.
What you see above is my digital drawing: a Panda 4x4 Sisley composed entirely of phrases, words and slogans that tell the spirit of this legendary car. A Panda made of typography and memory, of irony and freedom.
There are no lines, shadows or shades. Only letters, all strictly Italian (because we are tired of English phrases, right?).
I had fun making the Panda talk as if it were alive. It screams “Adventure!”, reminds us that it is “Ideal for the family”, promises “Clean air trips” and proudly claims to be “The Italian Jeep”.
And on top, of course, the canoe. Because in the 80s, you always carried something on the roof, even if it wasn't needed.
This Panda is more than a car: it's a manifesto on four wheels. It represents an Italy that started with little, but with a great desire to leave. And I like to think that, even today, there is still someone who sees a path and thinks: "I'll get there with the Panda".
This drawing is my way of making art with humor and nostalgia, and also a little with pride. Because yes, that little four-wheel drive box made history. And I wrote it all over it.
